Cupcake Jewellery

I started this blog sometime ago because I fancied sharing with people some of my photos and general witterings. Monday I received a phone call - "I have just found your blog and I am interested in stocking some of your jewellery" ( I proceeded to jump up and down wildly causing the dog to look at me in disgust). Therefore after an exciting meeting with Emma from Em's Cupcakes ( www.emscupcakes.co.uk ) who has a stall at the Westwood Cross Christmas Shopping Village near Game and Costa Coffee, she has put some of my cupcake jewellery on her stall.

My website www.beadsdivine.co.uk also has products to buy, not as many as I would like but as I have over 120 separate items with each piece taking about 15 mins to add to the website, I keep running out of time.

I will get there!!!

Cupcakes

I have a lot of craft fairs and parties on at the moment where I am selling my jewellery.

So yesterday I managed to fit in a cupcake making session, these are made from polymer clay which I bake in the oven, sprinkle with glitter and make into bracelets. The little girls love them.

My website is also semi up and running http://www.beadsdivine.co.uk/ I am hoping to have the shop online late friday, fingers crossed.

Bag Charms

I've been busy all week making jewellery for the craft fair at Holy Trinity School, Ramsgate 7pm - 9pm tomorrow night.
The bag charms are always a good seller at parties but not having done a craft fair before it is very difficult to estimate quantities.
I have also have some stock in a Hairdresser's - The Hair Cottage in Kingsgate which is selling well and this weekend I hope to have a very basic website up and running.

Goodness who would have thought it!

Paper aeroplanes

As you can see the illness is finally over and we managed to get to the free paper aeroplane making event at Ramsgate Library.

There were lots of different types of planes to make and test. We then had to decide on one plane to fly in the final competition.

The top three planes all won a book voucher. Unfortunately we came fourthish never mind!

Half Tem illness

My eldest was ill last week with a bad temperature, sickness and all the other symptoms of flu. I must admit I did panic when he started spouting jiberish and looked like the undead so I went and got him some Tamiflu which worked really quickly.

Unfortunately this Tuesday about lunchtime my youngest decided he felt sick and started a raging temperature. I therefore have had to nurse him during the day and sleep on the floor in his room at night. He hasn't had all the aches and pains and has been quite lucid at times chatting at fourteen to the dozen about Pokemon.

Finally today at lunchtime his temperature came down but he still feels sick - so much for half term I am completely stir crazy, so much so that if I have to watch another episode of Horrid Henry I am going to scream (must admit I am going to watch the Sarah Jane Mystery's in a mo - its got David Tennant in it).

Sorry about the long post need to let off steam.

P.S We hopefully are going to a paper aeroplane making session at Ramsgate Library on Saturday at 3.30. They may have some tickets left if your a lucky.

Red glass bracelet

I am trying to sell some items on the Internet. Have tried putting some items on Folksy - a website where people sell handmade items, as it only costs 20p to list an item thought I would give it a go, trouble is haven't had anybody view my items yet, so have resorted to eBay which is going to cost me about £2.00 per item. Fingers crossed I sell something as I haven't got an event until the Holy Trinity School Ramsgate Craft Fair which is on Friday 6th November 7pm - 9pm.

Lighthouse

We took the dog for a walk last night and ended up going past North Foreland lighthouse and down through the fields to Elmwood Farm.

You couldn't have asked for a better evening.

I took this photo on my mobile phone and I haven't played with it at all, pretty good if I do say so myself, trouble is the place is so photogenic you couldn't do too much wrong.

Relaxing

We went away in the caravan the other weekend down to Cottington Lakes at Deal, its a nice site with lots of space, a bar and for my motley crew - lots of fishing.

So while they were very happy catching fish, I chilled out, relaxed and caught up on some reading.

We then had a BBQ and our friend bought her fire basket along, so we had a real fire and toasted marshmallows which the kids loved.

What a very relaxing weekend.

Quiche

I am not very good with pastry and do try and avoid making and cooking with it. But my hubbie decided he fancied a quiche and I really don't like shop bought ones. So I braved the pastry making and look at the result - fantastic, only problem was it didn't last long!!!

Margate Harbour

This is a shot of the new Turner centre from the Harbour Arm at Margate. This was quite a difficult picture to take as I was trying to hold my nose at the same time, as the stench was unbelievable.

It made me feel quite sick for a long time after.

We had decided to have a wander along the Harbour Arm last Friday but unfortunately they was nothing open apart from the cafe but the smell was so bad we beat a hasty retreat into the old town. We found a few interesting shops open and had a nice chat with a few people, but it needs a shed load of money to transform the area. The architecture is there, some of the old shops would look wonderful repaired and used again.

We live in hope, Thanet Hope.

P.S Don't forget the Kite Festival at Margate Beach this weekend, it was truly amazing last year, fingers crossed for nice weather.

Allsort

I thought I would show you a picture of one of my creations. I bought the allsort beads and assembled them on a bracelet. I have made a necklace and a stretchy bracelet as well. As soon as the littleun goes back to school I am going to try to make the allsorts myself - should be interesting. I have also been experimenting with shrink plastic, it has lots of possibilities - watch this space!

Summer

Just realised I haven't blogged for ages. I have been setting up my own business - handmade jewellery It all happened by chance, I bought some beads, made some jewellery, sold lots and people want more. So I have been trying to juggle looking after my little un and making bits and bobs.

Anyway we enjoyed Folk Week last week it was so nice to have lovely weather, lots of people having fun, no trouble and lots of goodies to buy. Tomorrow is Water Gala day and it is supposed to be lovely(its normally miserable) so that will be worth having a wander around.

My little un is now old enough to walk to the sea front as he realises there is probably an ice cream in it for him and therefore we have been frequenting the new Chiappinis(not sure if that is spelt right) he has Fruits of the Forest and I have Tiramasu - mmmmm! lovely.

Steam Fayre, Preston

We went to the Steam Fayre at Preston yesterday afternoon (it is still on today) as the littleuns spots have gone down and after being cooped up for a few days thought we would go and have some fun. What an amazing afternoon, it was just like stepping back in time to when I was a kid. It was a proper fayre with lots of rides for the kids including bumper cars and a coconut shy (my husband won two coconuts with only three balls). They were lots of steam engines of various shapes and sizes that were paraded around the show ring at various times. They were lots of old vehicles including motor bikes, cars, milk floats and an old East Kent bus.

We also found barns and yards full of old steam engines and a number of musical organs. They was a ploughing match going on with horse drawn ploughs and steam ploughs which we watched from Preston Church graveyard while drinking tea and eating delicious chocolate cake. There was also a steam train running on temporary lines.

As you can tell we had a lovely time and I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone. Next year we will take a picnic and go all day.

Swine Flu

I see we have our first case of swine flu at the Marlowe Academy (see Kent Online). I suppose as it was as close as Canterbury University it was bound to come this way sooner or later. Just spoken to a friend whose nephew goes there, it has all happened so quickly nobody knows quite what is going on yet. They are going to be advised over the weekend as to wether the school will be open next week.

Cucumber

I have managed to grow an extremely bent cucumber that would not pass an EU inspection but what the hell. I am going to leave it until the weekend and make some tzatziki out of it with some fresh baked bread, YUM!!!!!

On a more itching note my youngest has finally succumbed to Chicken Pox luckily its not too bad, he is covered in spots but they don't seem too itchy, fingers crossed this is a bad as it is going to get.

So I went up to Boots last night and bought lots of calamine lotion and cotton wool, its amazing how a smell can bring back loads of memories - laying on the settee feeling very sorry for myself, whilst my mum kept telling me to stop scratching. Trouble is I can't stop itching myself maybe I should put some lotion on me, maybe not.

Karate on the beach

My son attended Karate on the beach at Viking Bay yesterday. He has been going to classes for a few weeks and is loving it. He ended up up to his waist in the sea and loved every minute which quite surprised me as we couldn't get him in the sea last year.
We then strolled home through the crowds attending the Dickens Festival, to watch the flying displays from the Big Event at Margate from our garden. The Red Arrows were amazing, they still give me goosebumps every time I see them and flying back to Manston they came straight over the house!

Sunrise

The dog gets us up at about 5.15 most mornings ugh! So I thought I would make the most of a nice day and head for the beach early were I managed to get this quite lovely picture on my mobile phone.

My littleun has gone down the beach today with the school. The kids in his year (all ninety of them) turned up with their buckets and spades so you can imagine what Viking bay will look like when they have finished.

St Mildreds School Fete

St Mildreds school in Broadstairs is having its school fete tomorrow at 3.00pm.

There will be the usual stalls and attractions including a cake stall which I have been busy making my sticky creations for, though I slightly overdid the quantities ending up with about 56 cakes. But by the way I am having to fend off members of the family I will be lucky if I end up with 6 to take!

Open Farm, Quex Park

We had a lovely time at the Open Farm day at Quex Park, my son went on every single tractor (I went in a couple as well). We saw Wellington the Bull, and went on a really bumpy and exciting tractor ride.

Poppies

What a lovely poppy makes you smile every time you go past.

One of our new chickens died yesterday for no apparent reason. I am keeping a close eye on the other three but they look fine, very odd.

We went and voted earlier, took the littleun with us and explained how it all worked, he was most disappointed when he found out he couldn't vote as well! Never mind only another 12 years!

Bottom

We went to the Cotswolds last week in our caravan and visited Blenheim Palace. It was a lovely day even the littleun enjoyed himself. I spotted this rather bottomly statue and couldn't resist taking a pic.
